This beautiful wildflower is indigenous to North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. It thrives in the dry regions of the Piedmont and the coastal plains of North Carolina. The stemless ironweed develops a rosette of leaves at its base, with stems that can reach heights of 36 to 42 inches emerging from the center. From late June to August, it showcases vibrant purple-fuchsia flowers that are particularly appealing to bees.

This plant flourishes at the borders of woodlands, preferring well-drained to dry, sandy soils, and is also well-suited for meadows and woodland gardens.
