Amanita jacksonii, commonly known as Eastern Caesar's Amanita, is a type of edible mushroom that thrives in woodlands stretching from eastern Canada through the United States and into Mexico. This species is particularly prevalent in the oak and pine forests, as well as the fields of North Carolina's Piedmont region. Its striking appearance makes it easily identifiable, featuring a vibrant red cap that gradually lightens from the edges to the center as it matures. The mushroom's stem is yellow, adorned with orange fibers. The cap can reach up to 4 inches in diameter, initially oval before transitioning to a convex shape with a noticeable central bump. The gills are densely packed, orange-yellow in color, and detach from the stem, with the shorter gills being subtruncate to truncate in shape.
