Originating from South Africa, this delicate biennial is often cultivated as an annual, bringing vibrant blue hues to any garden. While it can withstand poor, dry soil, it thrives in rich, well-drained, moist conditions. This plant favors full sunlight but can also manage in partial shade. A light application of fertilizer is recommended. Its coarse leaves can be trimmed back by approximately 3 inches following each flowering period to promote a second bloom. In regions with mild winters, it has a tendency to self-seed.
