Phonetic Spelling:nym-FOY-deez pel-TAY-ta
Genus:Nymphoides
Species:peltata
Family:Menyanthaceae
This plant is a robust rhizomatous variety that can exhibit aggressive growth. It is best cultivated in 1-gallon containers and should be submerged in 12 to 24 inches of water, thriving in full sunlight. It prefers sandy loam soil rich in organic matter, akin to the conditions found in riverbeds or the bottoms of ponds. Additionally, it adapts well to container gardening. The plant spreads through underwater stems, known as runners, and can be easily divided for propagation, although it can also reproduce from seeds. In colder climates, it survives the winter by resting at the bottoms of water bodies, much like water lilies. Its leaves float on the water's surface, resembling those of small water lilies.
Regarding pests and diseases, this plant does not face any significant issues.
