Blue Sandalwood is a deciduous tree indigenous to China, reaching heights of 30 to 45 feet. While it is often cultivated for ornamental purposes, it is also harvested in China for the production of Xuan paper. In autumn, its foliage turns a vibrant yellow, and its bark, which is gray-brown in color, sheds in patches.

This tree thrives in moist, well-drained loamy soil and prefers full sunlight, although it can adapt to various soil types, including gravelly and sandy conditions. Once established, it demonstrates drought resistance and can serve effectively as a shade tree.
