Plant Profile: Senecio crassissimus

The succulent blue-green leaves, edged in purple, are flat, allowing them to adjust their orientation to avoid having a single surface exposed to the sun. This adaptation is particularly beneficial in the intense heat of Madagascar, their native habitat. The shape of these leaves is reminiscent of propellers on an airplane. However, this plant is not frost-resistant, necessitating that it be cultivated in a container and brought indoors during winter months.
