Family:Sapindaceae
The Coral Bark Japanese Maple is a small to medium-sized deciduous tree that exhibits a slow to moderate growth rate and features striking coral red bark during the winter months. For optimal growth, it should be planted in areas that receive full sunlight to partial shade, in soil that is moist and well-drained. This tree is adaptable to various soil types, including sandy and heavy clay soils. Its leaves maintain a light green-yellow hue throughout spring and summer, transitioning to a vibrant yellow in the fall. In colder weather, the color deepens to a near salmon shade, although it achieves its most vivid coloration in full sun; however, new leaves may be prone to scorching. This variety is drought-resistant and is occasionally misidentified as ‘Corallinum.’
