Southeast USA

Genus:Pinguicula
Species:caerulea
Family:Lentibulariaceae
Violet butterwort thrives in damp, sandy habitats like bogs and ditches, making it unsuitable for use in landscaping.
Its leaves are adorned with minute hairs that produce a sticky fluid resembling water droplets, which lures in insects. Once an insect lands on the leaves, the edges curl inward, ensnaring the prey. The plant then secretes enzymes to break down the trapped insect.
This species is commonly located in the sandy regions of North and South Carolina.
