Phonetic Spelling:sy-BAL-dee-uh try-den-TAY-ta

Genus:Sibbaldia

Species:tridentata

Family:Rosaceae

Shrubby Five-fingers, also known as Three-toothed Cinquefoil, is a perennial wildflower commonly found along rocky and gravelly shorelines, as well as in dry shale outcrops on prairie hillsides. Its low-growing nature makes it an excellent choice for ground cover and a perfect option for container gardening. When placed at the edges of a planter, it creates a lovely spilling effect.

To maintain its health and prevent overcrowding, this plant should be divided every three to four years. Each flower cluster can feature as many as 25 blooms, which emerge at the tips of the stems and side branches, with the terminal buds opening first.

However, it struggles in landscape settings due to its inability to compete effectively with other plants. When grown from seed, it typically takes two years before it begins to flower. Under optimal conditions, these plants can thrive for up to a decade.
