Phonetic Spelling:mag-NO-lee-ah LOHB-ner-ee

Genus:Magnolia

Species:

Family:Magnoliaceae

This deciduous tree, known as the Loebner Magnolia, is a hybrid resulting from the crossbreeding of Magnolia 'kobus' and Magnolia 'stellata'. Characterized by its vigorous growth, this variety begins to bloom at a young age. Typically reaching heights of 20 to 30 feet and spreading to a similar width, it boasts a rounded form. Its striking white flowers emerge between February and March, and it can also be cultivated as a multi-trunked shrub.

There are several hybrid cultivars available on the market today, showcasing blooms in pure white or various shades of pink, including pink-lilac. A notable aspect of this tree is that when its stem is bruised, it releases a delightful sweet scent. Like other Magnolias, it provides shelter for wildlife, both within its dense foliage and on the ground beneath. This tree thrives in full sunlight or in partially shaded areas at the edges of woodlands.
