Fraser's Photinia is a sizable, evergreen shrub or small tree that can reach heights of up to 20 feet. It typically flowers in mid-spring, appearing after P. serratifolia and before P. glabra, and falls in size between these two species. The plant's blooms, which some find unpleasantly odorous, can be off-putting to many. The new leaves emerge in a striking reddish-bronze hue, and the reddish buds are noticeable throughout much of the year. This species is tolerant of alkaline soils, drought, and salt spray, but it does not fare well in wet conditions and is susceptible to various pests and diseases.
Form: Upright; slightly rounded; oval
